Reformating the SweetPea3 drive (all models)

*** We have not seen a need to reformat the drive on the SP3-200. If you are experiencing problems, make sure you have the latest firmware installed. ***

Reformat the drive when songs suddenly disappear or your SweetPea3 suddenly says "Playlist Empty". Note that this will erase all songs on the player so make sure they are backed up to your computer.

Using a PC

  1. Remove the battery from the SweetPea3
  2. Plug the SweetPea3 into the computer using the USB cable
  3. Open Windows Explorer and find the SweetPea3 removable drive listed along with all your other drives on your computer
  4. Right click on the SweetPea3 removable drive. Make sure you select the SweetPea3 drive!!
  5. Select "Format...
  6. Enable "Quick Format"
  7. Click "Start"
  8. Once complete, uplug the SweetPea3 and insert the battery. The SweetPea3 should power up and eventually say "Playlist Empty"
  9. Plug the SweetPea3 back into the computer and drag songs using Windows Explorer as described in the User Manual
  10. Unplug the SweetPea3. The unit should power up and play music. If it still says "Playlist Empty", go into the settings menu and select the playlist that has the songs in it

Using a Mac

  1. Remove the battery from the SweetPea3
  2. Plug the SweetPea3 into the computer using the USB cable
  3. Open Applications->Utilities->Disk Utilities
  4. Click on the SweetPea3 drive ("Actions HS USB Flashdisk Media")
  5. Click on "Erase" tab
  6. Ensure that the format is "MS-DOS (FAT)
  7. Click the "Erase..." button
  8. Click "Erase" again from the popup window
  9. Once complete, uplug the SweetPea3 and insert the battery. The SweetPea3 should power up and eventually say "Playlist Empty"
  10. Plug the SweetPea3 back into the computer and drag songs using Windows Explorer as described in the User Manual
  11. Unplug the SweetPea3. The unit should power up and play music. If it still says "Playlist Empty", go into the settings menu and select the playlist that has the songs in it
